©2006 Boston Bike ToursI started Boston Bike Tours in 1999, and with the help of my wife Cathleen, have been able to host thousands of people from all over the country, and the world, on one of my personalized bike tours. It is a great pleasure to be able to share the city I love (Boston!) like no other tour is able. I can honestly say that there is no better way to see Boston than on a bike. This does not mean one has to go ridding around through heavy traffic! I want to have fun, not compete with vehicles. Over the years I have worked out a number of comprehensive tours that will get you into the heart of Boston while utilizing quiet side streets and paths. There is no tour in Boston that can lead you on a tour of the entire Freedom Trail in less than three hours! This includes all 16 Freedom Trail sites plus a few more thrown in at no extra cost.
I sincerely want you to have a good time on a Boston Bike Tour, and my customer service background, appreciation for the history of Boston, carefully chosen routes, combined with years of of experience leading bicycle tours in Boston will make a tour with us one of your most memorable activities on your visit to Boston.
Sincerely Lyall Croft Owner, guide, bike mechanic, and Bottle Washer
The starting point of the Freedom Trail. The Boston Common is known to be one of the oldest public parks in the country. The park is almost 50 acres in size. Today, Boston Common is the anchor for the Emerald Necklace, a system of connected parks that winds through many of Boston's neighborhoods. The "Common" has been used for many different purposes throughout its long history. Until 1830, cattle grazed the Common, and until 1817, public hangings took place here. British troops camped on Boston Common prior to the Revolution and left from here to face colonial resistance at Lexington and Concord in April, 1775.
